We have welcomed apprentices from Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Massachusetts and New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a new college graduate or for someone looking for an in-depth experience before starting their own farming venture. Past apprentices have gone on to manage a CSA, grow a homesteading business, work in environmental consulting, and to work additional seasons here at Eddy Farm.
Here is what a few of our past apprentices have to say:
'Working at Eddy Farm gave me a lot of confidence, and a lot of joy. Every minute was packed with learning, moving, weeding, thinking, planting, lifting, crafting, growing. The work was creative and tactile, and I found it to be some of the most fulfilling that I’ve done. Plus, the food makes it all worth it!'
'Eddy Farm is a place of old-school, DIY attitude. For me, the best part of the job was the chance to become stronger both mentally and physically, knowing that after a season spent working with Andy and Haley I had confidence in myself to stare down a problem and figure out the best way to fix it.'
-Kat, 2014 and 2015
'Perfectly situated in the center of CT, Haley and Andy have the resources, the know-how, and an appreciation of hard work, creativity, and good food. I had a fantastic season learning so many new skills and have actually started my own homestead bolstered by the experiences I had at Eddy Farm!'
Apprentices are housed on the farm in comfortable private rooms adjoining the main body of our barn.
