Part Time Farm Crew
Eddy Farm seeks a motivated, good natured person to help us plant, maintain, and harvest our vegetable crops. Tasks include transplanting, weeding, pruning tomatoes, harvesting daily for our farm stand, cleaning and packing vegetables, and some mowing and trimming. Requirements include a good work ethic, ability to lift heavy boxes repeatedly, toughness in the face of all weather, and an interest in chemical free food production. You must be available the entire season, starting May or June through mid October, 5-6 days/week with both weekend days being desired. Pay starts at 11/hr and is commensurate with experience.
Full Time Assistant Flower Farmer

Eddy Farm seeks an intelligent, independent, and passionate person to work full time from April through November in a full time flower farming position. Hours and schedule are somewhat flexible but would generally be 6 days/week from 6 am to 12 pm or 2 pm, depending on the day's tasks. This position is ideal for a person who is interested in every facet of flower production, from seeding to marketing to delivery and design. It is designed to give a person the skills and confidence to be able to eventually start their own flower farm. Preference will be given to candidates interested in remaining with Eddy Farm in the Assistant position for several seasons before moving on to their own project.

The ideal candidate has a dedication and independent interest in floral design, farming, and the larger environmental and sociopolitical impact of promoting locally grown flowers. A passion for the work is essential. You must have good attention to detail, a knack for following a routine and record keeping, while also being able to identify big picture priorities under stressful conditions and adapt accordingly. Good physical condition, the ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, and excellent stamina for tedious tasks is a must. Above all, you must be dedicated to following through on a project to satisfaction without detailed supervision.
No specific farming experience is necessary, though it is preferred. A background in art and design is also preferred, though we are happy to teach the appropriate skills to the right candidate.
Compensation starts at $12/hr and is negotiable and commensurate with experience. There is no housing offered as part of this job; you must be within commuting distance of Newington, CT.
Part Time Flower Farm Worker

Eddy Farm seeks an enthusiastic, hard working team member to work part time in our flower fields and in the studio. The ideal candidate is able to follow directions independent of constant oversight, and has stamina for long hours completing sometimes repetitive tasks. The ability to learn to identify up to 60 different varieties of flowers and their unique harvest techniques is also required. An organized but efficient worker will excel in this position, as it requires filling stem count orders within a time sensitive harvest window.
You will be asked to harvest, prep, pack, and store flowers, assist in making mixed bouquets, seeding, transplanting, and irrigation. Weekend events make up a large part of the hours and an interest in floral design, coolness under pressure, and an artistic eye are helpful attributes. Maintaining cleanliness of all work spaces is an important part of the job.
This job is 15-20 hrs per week, 11/hr. Shifts will most often be 7 am to 12 am, 3-4 days/week with occasional fill-ins on busy weeks with wedding work, installation, and cleanup.
Farm Stand Worker
We have several positions open for summer 2017 at our road side farm stand. Duties include setting up the farm stand, assisting customers, using an iPad register system, keeping the stand stocked and neat, and packing everything at the end of the day. You should be friendly, polite, interested in food and cooking, and able to be on your feet all day. Lifting heavy boxes of vegetables and bags of corn is part of the job. Enthusiasm, confidence, and a sense of cleanliness are desired. No prior work experience is necessary, you must be at least 16 as of July 2017 to apply. Pay starts at 9.50/hr. Preference will be given to those who can work at least 2 full days per week, those who can work weekends, and those who can work our full open season (July through the end of October.)
